KIST Obtains International Standard for Safety and Health Management System Certification (ISO 45001)
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST; President: Dr. Seok-Jin Yoon) obtained its ISO 45001 (International Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standards) Certification and held a signboard hanging ceremony on December 24.
The ISO 45001 is an international standard certification
system for health and safety management to preemptively prevent various risk
factors and accidents, and create and maintain an optimally safe work
environment.
Based on the management policy of prioritizing the safety
and health of its members, KIST has expanded and strengthened its safety
capabilities through measures such as increasing its dedicated organizational
functions and building up its professional workforce. In addition, systematic
management activities such as internalized safety checks and safety education
programs, precision safety inspections of laboratories by external experts,
risk assessments, and more have been steadily carried out to prevent safety
accidents and promote a safety-oriented culture at KIST.
As a result of these efforts, KIST was able to obtain ISO
certification in the field of occupational health and safety management, acknowledging
that systematic and efficient safety and health management is being carried out
in accordance with international standards.
KIST President Dr. Yoon stated, "We will continue to make efforts to create an environment where all KIST members can focus on their national and social roles in a safe and healthy work environment."
