On March 13-21, KIST President Dr. Hong Thomas Hahn was on a business trip to the U.S. to conduct field research for the establishment of KIST-America and to hold KIST recruiting information sessions.
Dr. Hahn went to four cities, which include Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego, to secure outstanding recruits and to build a network of international cooperation. About a total of 300 students and researchers from Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, and LA attended the recruiting information sessions and showed a high level of interest in KIST.
During the trip, Dr. Hahn met with the Korean Consulate General in Los Angeles to discuss about the establishment of KIST-America. He also visited major universities, such as University of Washington, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and UCLA, where he met with chancellors and senior officials to provide information on KIST research programs.
On March 19, Dr. Hahn expressed KIST’s enthusiasm for S&T entrepreneurship at the World Young Korean Leaders Coalition 2010. He was received with great response from the Korean attendees from all over the world, who will be the next generation of leaders.
