Kurt Wüthrich, a Swiss chemist and Nobel Chemistry laureate, visited KIST on September 7, 2010.
He visited the laboratory containing the 900 MHz NMR system, which he showed great interest in, and had a brief meeting with KIST President Hong Thomas Hahn.
After meeting with President Hahn, he gave a lecture on “Structural Genomics: Combined Use of NMR and Crystallography with Proteins” for the students and researchers of KIST.
Professor Wüthrich is currently researching at the department of Biophysics in ETH Zurich. He was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2002 for his “development of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for determining the three-dimensional structure of biological macromolecules in solution.”
