KIST Co-organized GKP Workshop

"Korea-India Global Knowledge Platform Workshop" was held at Seoul National University and KIST on 11th and 12th co-organized by KIST, International Science & Business Belt Forum (President: Professor Dong-Pil Min) and Electronics Telecommunications Research Institute in order to prepare a foundation of science & technology cooperation between Korea-India.
GKP(Global Knowledge Platform) is a project advocated by former India president Abdul Kalam and president Myung-bak Lee for the purpose of sharing the knowledge property possessed by the whole world and contribute in global mutual prosperity. Both president agreed to promote GKP project on last year April.
5 people of India Institute of Science including associate director Balakrishnan, people of political and government circles such as congressman Ho-Young Joo and Seung-Kyu Kang, Cheongwadae education, science & culture senior secretary Jin-Gon Jeong and GKP steering committee member such as Seoul National University professor Dong-Pil Min, Dr. Young-Sang Cho etc., 50 people participated in this workshop and they share an idea about cooperation directions between both countries in 5 areas such as environment, energy, security, internet and DMB.
Former India president Abdul Kalam encouraged for labor of attendants in workshop through a telephone message on 12th. He requested endeavor to the participant for the promotion of GKP project successively hereafter.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kil-Choo Moon had a separate meeting with associate director Balakrishnan and they exchanged a views on establishment of Korea-India Cooperation Center as well as local lab establishment and henceforth, decided to promote cooperation project through a selection of definite cooperation areas and dispatch of a research group. IISc delegation has visited our solar cell, fuel cell, intelligent robot research center after the event and hear an explanation about the present status of research.
