The 2nd 2012 KIST-IRDA Colloquium with Vietnamese Ambassador
Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, H.E. Tran Trong Toan was invited as a special guest lecturer of the colloquium of International R&D Academy, KIST (hereinafter "IRDA") on September 18, 2012. The IRDA has invited a number of Ambassadors like H.E. Katherine Stevenson, former US Ambassador and, H.E. Mohamed Elzorkany-Egyptian Ambassador in June 2012, and arranged colloquiums to prosper students' foresight on international issues and humanities.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ambassador gave a lecture on "Korea and Vietnam: From Natural, Historical and Cultural Similarities to the Strategic Cooperation Partnership." He stressed that the cooperation between two countries should not only remain in industrial or political arena, but it also should spread out to the fast growing areas such as cultural, entertainment, and even foods. He has provided considerable amount of data during his lecture followed by a Q&A session.
The Ambassador was welcomed by KIST President Dr. Kil-choo Moon. They discussed further cooperation between Korea and Vietnam. The Ambassador highly praised Korea's fast economic growth, and he expressed his firm commitment and willingness to carry out S&T cooperation between Korea and Vietnam through KIST and IRDA program.
After the session, the Ambassador met with Vietnamese IRDA students. With encouragement from the Ambassador, Vietnamese IRDA students were greatly motivated to take on the leading role in strengthening the relationship and ties between Korea and Vietnam just as the Ambassador has requested.
