KIST President Visits the U.K. and Attends EKC 2010 in Vienna

KIST President Dr. Hong Thomas Hahn visited leading research institutions in the U.K., starting from July 26 for eight days. He also attended the EU-Korea Conference on Science and Technology (EKC 2010) in Vienna, Austria.
He visited the following UK research institutions and governing bodies: UK Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (STFC-RAL), Cambridge University, Imperial College London, Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, and Government Office for Science. They exchanged opinions on bilateral issues concerning research, such as research cooperation and personnel exchange.
At EKC 2010, Dr. Hahn discussed about measures for promoting collaborative research and strengthening the network of Korean scientists living in Austria. He also gathered support for the joint effort in Global Open Innovation (GOI).
Also on the visit were Park Young-ah, a member of South Korea's National Assembly, and Min Dong-pil, chairman of Korea Research Council of Fundamental Science and Technology.
