Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa Delgado visited KIST on September 10, 2010.
President Correa met with Dr. Hong Thomas Hahn, president of KIST, where they discussed about KIST’s current research activities and personnel training programs. President Correa was also shown the cognitive robot developed by KIST.
Dr. Hahn gave more information on the KIST International R&D Academy, which offers advanced degrees in science and technology, and the postdoctoral program at KIST. They also discussed about the two countries collaborating in the research of natural resources.
Upon President Correa’s visit to KIST, more cooperative measures in science and technology research between Ecuador and Korea is expected.
Ecuador, known as the representative oil-producing country in Latin America, is also one of the seventeen megadiverse countries in the world.
