KIST (Dr. Lee Byung Gwon, President) said it will hold a meeting with foreign diplomats to Korea who are in charge of science and technology at Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul on November 4, for the purpose of promoting global co-prosperity and ODA in the field of science and technology.
The conference will be attended by foreign diplomats from 18 countries who are in charge of science and technology including the ambassador of Paraguay to Korea, and they will be briefed on the status of ODA activities conducted by KIST, such as training programs for developing countries. In addition, state-funded research institutes such as National Research Council of Science Technology and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute will also take part in the conference and explore ways to support developing countries to advance science and technology.
The conference is an annual event, which was started in 2011 for the purport of tapping into science and technology as a means to address global issues and promote global co-prosperity. It has received much attention from the embassies of developing countries. In 2013 and 2014, the conference was held in joint with the embassy of Ethiopia and the embassy of Ecuador respectively. This year, KIST will hold the conference in joint with UNIDO ITPO and UST.
Drawing from discussions at the conference, KIST will make continuous efforts to develop ODA projects customized to the needs of developing countries.
