KIST Wins the Good Safety Management Workplace Awards’ Grand Prize
At the 9th Good Safety Management Workplace Awards, which was held in 2016 and organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), representing the district under the jurisdiction of Seongbuk Fire Station, received recognition as an outstanding workplace by winning the event’s Grand Prize.
On October 25, KIST representatives received the award and accompanying certificate at Seoul Metropolitan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, followed by a plaque-hanging ceremony several days later (Nov.1) in the lobby of KIST’s main office. President Lee Byung Gwon, Seongbuk Fire Chief Park Soon-il, and other interested parties were in attendance.
The Good Safety Management Workplace Awards helps create autonomous safety management systems and safety-focused environments. District fire stations throughout the city nominated 12 out of 50,000 workplaces as award candidates. The top six were then selected through safety management best practice presentations, with KIST ultimately being named the Grand Prize winner.
Good Safety Management Workplace Award-winners are determined via a list of 77 items in 20 categories and three different areas (including field inspections), as well as through the safety management best practice presentations. KIST achieved high scores across the board, including emergency response plans, maintenance of firefighting facilities, fire prevention education/training for all employees, and empirical training in safety experience zones. It was presented the Grand Prize in recognition of its immaculate safety management record.
