KIST Provides R&D Support for Women-owned IT Businesses
On June 12, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) signed a cooperation agreement with the Korea IT Business Women’s Association (KIBWA).
KIBWA, which has two branch offices and a network of around 350 member companies, was established in 2001 to promote the recruitment of Korean businesswomen and provide general support to women in the IT field. Furthermore, through the support of its partner organizations, KIBWA is working hard to boost the growth of women-owned IT businesses.
This cooperation agreement enables KIST to utilize its outstanding R&D capabilities to provide KIBWA member companies with technology consultations, technology transfers, and shared patents. For example, on July 4th, KIST’s SMEs Support Center will premiere its new annual technology consultation program for KIBWA members.
KIST’s president, Dr. Lee Byung Gwon, said, “I hope this agreement will encourage Korean businesswomen in the IT field to help lead the 4th Industrial Revolution. [KIST] will cooperate to help grow women-owned IT businesses, guarantee women’s social and economic status, and create new job opportunities for them.”
