KIST-PSU International Joint Research Center Opens in US
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST; President: Seok-Jin Yoon) and Pennsylvania State University (PSU) held the opening ceremony for the KIST-PSU International Joint Research Center at PSU in Pennsylvania at 10 a.m. on September 12, 2022.
The research center will promote international joint research in the field of transparent electronics in connection with the Joint Innovation Partnership supported by KIST and PSU. KIST and PSU began collaborating in 2018, held a joint workshop in 2019, and signed a cooperation agreement for establishing a joint research center and research cooperation in 2020. With the establishment of the KIST-PSU International Joint Research Center, the two organizations anticipate increased synergy in researching the development of transparent self-generating power sources through convergence research into technologies such as transparent batteries and transparent solar cells.
The opening ceremony for the joint research center was held in conjunction with a two-day workshop on the theme of developing transparent self-generating power systems. Going forward, the center will not only serve as a channel for establishing close cooperation in the transparent electronics field, but also for discovering and expanding on new cooperation areas through the formation of committees and regular joint workshops.
Seok-Jin Yoon, President of KIST, stated, "We hope that, through this opening ceremony, cooperation between our two institutions can be further strengthened. KIST and PSU are planning to support various international joint research projects with the aim of developing transparent self-generating power sources by combining transparent solid-state batteries with transparent solar cells."
