Dr. Hong Kyung Tae Takes Over as President of the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) announced that, beginning on January 1, 2018, Dr. Hong Kyung Tae of the KIST Materials Architecturing Research Center will serve a one-year term as the 48th president of the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials (KIM). He was initially appointed to the position during a KIM general meeting back in October 2017.
KIM was founded in 1946 to help boost Korean metallurgy, both academically and technologically. It currently has 15,000 members, making it the largest metallurgy association in Korea. It works with world-class scientists to expand the field of metals/materials engineering while also using convergence science to apply new process technologies to industry.
Dr. Hong previously worked as director-general of the KIST Jeonbuk Institute of Advanced Composite Materials.
