The Doping Control Center Is KIST’s “Person of the Month”
On April 30, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST)’s Doping Control Center (DCC) received KIST’s Person of the Month Award in recognition of its outstanding achievements.
During the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games, the DCC oversaw the manpower, processes, equipment, and accreditation necessary for the center’s smooth operation, successfully conducting doping tests while meeting the standards of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
More specifically, the DCC introduced a new doping-control laboratory information management system (D-LIMS) while also boasting the latest in cutting-edge doping test equipment. It effectively trained around 60 new personnel to conduct the required doping tests, and further expanded upon staff exchanges with accredited laboratories overseas. In the end, WADA and the IOC thanked the DCC for having conducted quick, accurate doping tests on more than 4,200 samples collected throughout the entire Olympic event.
KIST’s Person of the Month Award recognizes and rewards overachievers who contribute to the institute in creative, innovative ways. Winners are selected by the Reward Deliberation Committee.
