16th Hongneung Forum Held
On June 2nd, the 16th Hongneung Forum took place at the academic conference hall on the main campus of Kookmin University, under the theme, "Community of Win-Win! Hongneung."
The Hongneung Forum is an academic and research-oriented forum which is held to provide a platform for the discovery and sharing of collaboration plans between various local companies and related organizations in the Hongneung autonomous district, including the Korea Institute for Advanced Study, Kyung Hee University, Korea University, National Institute of Forest Science, Kookmin University, Dongduk Women's University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, University of Seoul, Seoul Technopark, Soorim Cultural Foundation, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), KAIST College of Business, Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, Korea National University of Arts, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea Institute of Radiological Medical Sciences, and Korea Creative Content Agency.
Since the first Hongneung Forum was held in July 2012, a total of 16 events have taken place, with the Forum being held twice per year.
*Due to COVID-19, the Forum was not held in 2020, and held only once in 2021 and 2022
At the event, in-depth discussions were held on topics relating to the Hongneung area, such as encouraging regional exchange, implementing measures to promote sharing and cooperation in the transition to becoming a digital society, and establishing a high-tech talent training system based on convergence, openness, and collaboration.
Yeun-Hee Kim, a professor with Kookmin University Graduate School’s Department of Public Administration, gave a presentation on the theme of “Team Team Class,” which is being used for convergence education based on community spirit and pragmatism.
Subsequently, Ji-Hyun Yang, a professor with Kookmin University's College of Automotive Engineering, gave a presentation on a new paradigm for future universities that breaks through the boundaries of university education.
Chaired by Kee-Taig Jung, Professor of Business Administration at Kyung Hee University, the panel discussion featured experts from various fields, who discussed the expansion and growth of Hongneung through convergence, cooperation, and talent development between fields.
At the end of the 16th Hongneung Forum, Gil-Ju Moon, Chairman of the Forum’s hosting organization, remarked, "I hope that today's forum can serve as an opportunity to expand convergence and cooperation between institutions in Hongneung."
