KIST Signs MOU with Mongolian Academy of Sciences(MAS)
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST; President: Seok-Jin Yoon) invited a total of 13 officials from the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia to visit its Seoul headquarters and Gangneung branch for the 2022 Mongolia S&T Capacity Building Program, organized in cooperation with the Mongolian Science Academy (MAS; President: Regdel Duger).
The aim of this invitational training program was to share experiences related to KIST's establishment and Korea's development and establish an action plan that can be applied to Mongolia. Since 2015, KIST has invited public officials and researchers from science and technology ministries in developing countries to take part in S&T capacity-building programs. This program serves to expand and strengthen KIST's research cooperation network, as well as contribute to achieving sustainable goals (SDGs) by cultivating science and technology innovation capabilities in developing countries. KIST and MAS will extend the cooperative agreement signed in 2001 to strengthen complementary research cooperation by combining KIST’s research experience with Mongolia's natural resources.
Seok-Jin Yoon, the President of KIST, said, "Since 2002, we have run the Korea-Mongolia Science and Technology Cooperation Center together with MAS to promote active research cooperation. We will continue to share our experiences in the development of science and technology as well as pursue science and technology cooperation in the natural product sector."
Regdel Duger, the President of MAS, who visited Korea to sign the cooperation agreement, stated, "The purpose of the cooperation agreement is to strengthen complementary research cooperation by combining Mongolia's abundant natural resources and Korea's research capabilities."
