KIST to Take Part in CES 2022 (December 16, 2021)
?
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST; President:
Dr. Seok-Jin Yoon) announced that it would take part in the Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) 2022, the world's largest exhibition for consumer
electronics and IT products, being held in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8, 2022.
This is the second time that KIST will participate in CES,
the first time being in 2020, and KIST is the only government-funded research
institute to host its own independent exhibition booth. Eureka Park, where the
KIST booth is located, is a place where new technologies and products from
start-up companies are debuted, and also where consumers can actively give
feedback on new products made by venture firms, universities, and research
institutes.
At this year’s CES, five research teams from KIST will
unveil their innovative technologies: a mind-controlled meal-assist robot
system (Dr. Laehyun Kim, Principal Researcher), an AI convergent infectious
disease response system (Dr. Chansoo Kim, Senior Researcher), a dog face
recognition system (Dr. Gi Pyo Nam, Senior Researcher), a smart self-powered
ring (Dr. Yong Bok Lee, Principal Researcher), and a non-face-to-face body
temperature and facial recognition kiosk (Dr. Heeseung Choi, Senior Researcher).
KIST President Dr. Yoon stated, "KIST's participation in CES will be an opportunity to promote the innovative technologies developed by KIST to the world and expand its efforts to pursue global technology marketing through participation in various international exhibitions."
