Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, and iTS all take part
On March 10, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), the VHS Medical Center, Seoul National University Hospital, the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), and In The Smart Co. held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on exchanges of R&D information and human resources, the sharing of facilities and equipment, and the promoting of joint policies for developing “smart” bionic limbs.
Under this agreement, the five institutions will also pursue working-level cooperation to develop medical devices and conduct clinical trials for commercializing the bionic limbs. The MoU is intended to foster development of cutting-edge bionic limbs, secure important new technology, distribute the limbs to amputees and injured veterans in Korea, and establish an independent warrantee system. KIST will focus on developing new technologies to establish product development plans, including technical reviews and benchmarks.
