KIST Makes Joint Response with Denmark’s DHI to Water Environment Issues (2015.11.05)

KIST (Dr. Lee Byung Gwon, President) and DHI Group of Denmark (CEO Antoine Labrosse) signed an agreement of cooperation at the headquarters of DHI Group in Denmark on November 5, for the purpose of promoting cooperation on R&D in the field of the water environment and making joint response to Korea’s newly introduced “Act on the registration and evaluation of chemical substances.”
Under the agreement, KIST and DHI Group will work together to make joint response to the chemical act which came into effect this year and promote collaboration on the management of water resources in urban areas and the treatment of waste water from industries and hospitals. In particular, they will establish a system to make joint response to chemical substances regulations in Korea and Europe and support industries, which is expected to help facilitate trade and manufacturing by chemical companies in both the regions.
DHI Group is a non-profit research institute accredited for its long history of over 50 years and expertise in the field of water. It is engaged in research cooperation with over 140 countries and has overseas offices in more than 30 countries. DHI Group provides solutions customized to the water environment of subject areas such as water resources and sewage.
The signing of the agreement will be followed by further discussions between KIST’s President Lee Byung Gwon and DHI Groups’ CEO Antoine Labrosee on ways to boost cooperation. The first step of cooperation will be the K-REACH Info-Day event to take place at the headquarters of KIST on November 17.
