KIST, for the second year in collaboration with Korea University, organized the 2nd KIST-Korea University Youth Science School, a program that provides lectures by renowned scientists and on-site research experiences. 180 students from Gyeonggibuk Science High School and Hana High School were invited to attend the Youth Science School on May 19, 2010.
During the program, which lasted for 8 hours, the students attended lectures entitled “Brain Research Using Mutant Mice” by KIST’s Dr. Shin Hee-sup and “Upcoming Robot World” by Korea University’s Professor Nakju Lett Doh. After visiting the main lab and the exhibition hall, the students were awarded with certificates from the presidents of KIST and Korea University.
The Youth Science School, jointly planned and organized by KIST and Korea University, proudly presents a model for cooperation between universities and research institutes for the goal of popularizing science to the general public. The two organizations plan to hold this program annually during the month of science.
